Ryan is a former United States Marine and Iraq war veteran. He served with 2nd Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (F.A.S.T.) Company stateside and as an infantry squad leader with 3rd Battalion 1st Marines. Ryan was wounded in action in the infamous Hell House fight in Fallujah Iraq in late 2004, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Navy Commendation medal with combat distinguishing device for valor under fire. Ryan completed his BA in Psychology from the University of Louisville, Kentucky and is working on his MPA in Nonprofit Management at Baruch College in NYC. Ryan is a long-time veteran advocate and has worked in various capacities for chemically dependent and homeless veterans and with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).
In addition to being CEO, Ryan is a permanent member of the Board of Directors. He maintains business documentation to ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal regulations of the nonprofit. He also helps to control and oversee the smooth operations of The War Writers’ Campaign to include transitioning partnerships and the conception of various War Writer programs. Ryan is also responsible for ensuring that the company’s direction is compliant with the mission and vision.
Derek is a former United States Marine and Iraq war veteran. He served with 2nd Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (F.A.S.T.) Company and toured Iraq both as a Marine and as a private security operator. He was awarded the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with combat distinguishing device for bravery under fire. He is a security expert and owner of SecurityGrade.com L.L.C. Derek Controls and oversees the smooth operations of The War Writers’ Campaign to include transitioning partnerships and the conception of various War Writer programs and is also a permanent member of the Board of Directors. Derek manages the War Writers’ website and all content postings. In addition to these duties, Derek also ensures that the company’s direction is compliant with the company’s mission and vision goals.
Derek has a B.S. in Business Management and is studying for his M.S. in Security Management at the University of Denver. He has self-published dozens of articles on security and is the author of The War Writers’ Campaign featured writing—Conquering Mental Fatigues- PTSD & Hypervigilance Disorder—Post War
Jonathan served in the infantry with the Army in Afghanistan from 2007 – 2008 and in Kuwait in 2012. His writing has appeared in The New York Times At War Blog, The Daily Beast, The Stars and Stripes, Military Success Network, and many others. He is currently working on a novel, Flight of the Blue Falcon, about the postmodern war and veteran experiences.
Elizabeth, the daughter of a career Air Force Pararescue Jumper, is an elementary school teacher, an attorney, a mom, and a lover of words. On the side, she created and runs www.TheEditQueen.com through which she practices her passion for reading, writing, and editing. Elizabeth is a graduate of Boston University, Long Island University at C.W. Post, and Hofstra Law School.

Toni Hoy is a best selling author and Marine mom, whose stories and articles have been published nationally. Hailing from the Chicago area, she sits on the Board of Directors of her local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) affiliate. As a mother of several children with multiple, trauma-related mental health disorders, she also leads the Legislative Committee for the Attachment and Trauma Network. She is acclaimed as a leading state and national mental health advocate. The Governor of Illinois appointed her to the Community and Residential Services Authority, a state authority offering technical assistance to parents of children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Safeco Insurance awarded her the “Community Hero” award in 2011 and Chicago’s Family Defense Center awarded her with the “Parent Advocacy Recognition” award in 2012.
Tom is an attorney who practices civil and criminal law in the New York metropolitan area and surrounding counties. He started his career as a prosecutor in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York, and served as a Village Justice for eight years. Tom has served as an Officer and Director for various not-for profit entities.
Tom, who double majored in History and Business Administration, received his B.A. from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, and J.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. He is an avid student of military history who wishes to give back to the veteran community.
Casey T. Taft, Ph.D., is a staff psychologist at the National Center for PTSD in the VA Boston Healthcare System, and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Taft was the 2006 Young Professional Award winner from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the 2009 Linda Saltzman Memorial Intimate Partner Violence Researcher Award winner. Dr. Taft currently serves as Principal Investigator on funded grants focusing on understanding and preventing partner violence through the National Institute of Mental Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Department of Defense. Dr. Taft is Associate Editor of the journal Psychological Trauma and is on the Editorial Boards of five other journals in the areas of clinical psychology, trauma, and the family. Dr. Taft has also chaired an American Psychological Association task force on trauma in the military and has consulted with the United Nations on preventing violence and abuse globally.
Paul Hackett is a successful practicing attorney, having received his BA from Case Western Reserve University and JD from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University. Hackett was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1988, and practices law in downtown Cincinnati with the Hackett Law Office, which he opened in 1994.
A veteran of the Iraq War, Hackett is a currently serving Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty from 1989 to 1992, and has since joined the Reserves, volunteering for a tour as a Civil Affairs Officer with the 4th Civil Affairs Group of the 1st Marine Division in 2004. Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
Paul ran for United States Congress in mid-2005, narrowly losing in the special election of the Second District of Ohio. Hackett and his wife Suzanne (Suzi) have three children, Grace, Seamus, and Liam.

Reese May is currently Director of East Coast Operations for St. Bernard Project, Inc. - a non profit disaster recovery organization founded in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Reese is a two time combat veteran United States Marine (Iraq - 2005, Iraq - 2007-08) and is currently the regional executive for SBP's Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts in New York City.

Linda grew up in Flint, Michigan and earned her BA and MBA from the University of Michigan.
